My Granddaughter's Rose

Granddaughter's Rose
Originally uploaded by BetsyIckes
The reason I call this My Granddaughter's Rose is because the day my granddaughter was born, this rose bush started to bloom. My granddaughter was born premature so this blooming rose seemed almost like a sign from above that everything was going to be alright.

Ring Around The Roses

Here is what this photgraper had to say about this photo:

A pocketful of posies,
Atishoo! Atishoo!
We all fall down!

Many children's Nursery Rhymes have their origins in historical events, more often than not rather unpleasant ones!
I personally find these origins fascinating.

"Ring a Ring O' Roses" is said to be a macabre parody on the horrors of the Great Plague. One of the first signs of the plague was a ring of rose-coloured spots, and the protection against this terrible disease was, in popular belief, a posy of herbs. Sneezing was taken as a sure sign that you were about to die of it, and the last line "We all fall down" omits the word, "dead"!

I came across this on Flickr.com and liked it. This artist did a wonderful job creating this picture! Here is what that had to say about their work,

"I felt like something different today... This was originally a pink rose bud... I did a little combing with a program called LIQUIB (Not a Freebee) then I put a weave on it and then I did an Amazing Circle and gave it a background... Funstuff If you like to play with digital designs... If you are interested, the background was made by taking a layer filling it with a gradient then using sponge and plastic wrap in the filters..."

Rose Rose I love You 玫瑰玫瑰我愛你

Rose Rose I love You 玫瑰玫瑰我愛你
"Rose, Rose I love you with an aching heart.
What is your future, now we have to part?
Standing on the jetty as the steamer moves away,
Flower of Malaya, I cannot stay... "

Does anyone know this song??? This is an very old English song, and this song also had been transleted in Chinese Version.

Rose also one of my favorite flower, every time when I look at the petals of rose, I just feel so amazing and beautiful!! It is complex, but it is also the queen of the flower~~

Love You, Rose~

Here is the Poem Wendy (intwomountains) says...

"A Rose is pure, her stem is strong
Her color's change, as day's move on

Like woman seems, At times demur
Full of passion, and obscure

Her petals soft, Insight, Yet teasing
Lush bouquets, Scent's so pleasing

Her palette full, Yet sometimes faint
Moment's rich, a lover's paint

A hidden flame, which sparks a fire
Touching gift's, that raise you higher

Simple Sweet Exotic Strong
Watch her thorns, She means no wrong

Long and slender, Petite and fine
Lush and plump, And yes
Divine ..."

Inspired by Red Roses

So many women love roses. Could it be that a rose has so many of our qualities. So soft and delicate yet can pierce like a thorn when needed.
